Here's the way i would like to fly BMS with Zeus....
(I would expect this to change when we start using IVC).
- Mission is agreed at least 30mins in advance (to allow people to get their shit together).
- Everyone knows the home plate details, tcn Ils, taxiways, frequencies.
- Training missions or dogfight FonF don't have to have ramp start, but adequate time for fence checks if appropriate.
- Training missions focus on a single objective. e.g, refuelling, or cross wind ils, or ccip bombing,
- Proper missions, either TE or Campaign, to be run from ramp, with adequate briefing discussion time, and time to setup targets frequencies, tactics etc.
- Proper missions, require piilots to b faimliar with the Aircraft ,mission task and weapons they choose.
- Ordinance to be agreed, and only flight lead to change ordinance (to avoid synch issues).
- Ordinance must be able to achieve the mission objectives.
- everyone must have their stuff checked before the mission (set-up controls, and comms). The training take off te is good, cause you can test rudder and brakes.
- Mission objectives are the priority for proper missions.
- Joining in game will not be permitted. (since its likely you won't have a clue as to what the mission or plan is.).
- Anyone prepared to fly, should have enough time to complete it. Mission completion will be landing at home plate, or alternative if bingo fuel.
- And for everything else, there's IL2......
Be interested in your view, and happy to discuss.
Completely agree. With this we will all get more proficient and then more organised. I have no problem listening to and doing detailed briefings it will enhance our situational awareness no end.
ReplyDeleteGood stuff Fish.
1. Fine, it pays to have attention to detail and this 30 minute period is sufficient to ensure people can muster / check / agree.
ReplyDelete2. Yes, but reccomend the pilot presentation addon and a printout if it all goes pete tong.
3. Nah, ramp starts / runway dependent on time people have.
4. Nah, training sessions can cover a multitude of subjects.
5. See 3.
6. Well yes, hopefully we are only going to fly 1 aircraft?
7. Agreed, let's not tempt fate.
8. Ok ...
9. Well ... I am personally not going to run the takeoff TE every time. I am going to trust BMS to remember my axes/controls. There is always JIP.
10. Pffff, if I see a Mig-23, he's mine!
11. Ok, not JIP from nothing, but reconnect is allowed.
12. Well I would love to agree but reality will always interfere with this one.
13. Bleh
4. If we start to do too many things, then we could as well be doing a proper mission IMO, but lets see what arises.
ReplyDelete5,would be a show stopper for me. Not sure i would be interested in flying without proper ramp time and briefing, readiness. In that situation why would we not do training ??
10. So u 'fk' off to catch the mig23, meantime a bunch of 27's sideline the escort strike you were tring to protect, terminating the mission. I dont' think that's good tactics.
12. yeah, there's always gonna be RL, but little point in starting if someone knows there not going to be able to finish. Better replan, or fly different mission that suits all.
